The Day Program is for adolescents who are chemically dependent. The treatment program is suited for individuals who have failed in IOP or outpatient programs and /or who are transitioning out of a residential or long-term treatment facility. It is an option or alternative to residential treatment, in the hopes that the entire family will become engaged in the treatment process. The structure of the program has been formatted to give the option of academic learning that is individually based, while in recovery. The recovery aspects of the program are based on 12-Step support, outside meetings, sponsors, relapse prevention, goal setting, relationship building, communication skills, stress management, conflict resolution, time management, creative development, life management, independent skills and self image empowerment. The approach is to assist parents and teens in getting back "on track" and to build healthier family dynamics.
Classroom academics are provided by the Orange County Department of Education.

BreakAway's Outpatient Program for Dual Diagnosis is an integrated approach to treating teens with substance abuse and co-morbid psychiatric disorders (dual diagnoses). A multi-disciplinary treatment team of a psychiatrist, consulting psychologist, PsyD, forensic counselor, certified alcohol and drug counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, and peer counselor address the issues involved with overlap and masking of symptoms created with a teen dealing with a dual diagnosis. BreakAway sees that a teen's affliction, be it mental or substance use, is a family issue. It is crucial that the family participate in the treatment process.
The Dual Diagnosis Program is provided as an integrative component to the Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Programs.
